Whilst surfing around the web the other day I came across a site the other day that I thought people might like to know about. It is called Hot Deals Orlando and as you can imagine it offers deals that people in the Orlando area can make the most of. Whilst it does of course have some offers that are not entirely relevant to Florida holiday maker such as todays offer being to get your teeth whitened (an American favour that has not come over the UK, or at least not yet). But there are often a number of deals for eating and drinking out in the area and so could be a great benefit and there is often deals on some of the finer eateries where the bill Continue reading “Hot Deals in Orlando – Save Money Saving Ideas” »
Disney FastPass is an idea that was conceived by Disney but has now being used in slightly different ways by attractions around the world, unfortunately other atractions are using it as a way to make more money rather then to give everyone a nicer experience. The idea of the fastpass is that with the more popular rides the park knows that the queues for rides would be better for everyone if they had a set number of people wanting to go on the ride all day rather then people coming in lumps as this causes a large queue at certain times of day that is nearly impossible to get rid of, therefore they came up with the FastPass system.
It is the sad truth that where there are lots of poeple there are lots of queues and they tend to be rather large. On one of our trips to Disneys Magic Kingdom we thought it would be nice and quiet as we were going in September which is a quieter month and it was a Friday, it turned out though to be a holiday in Florida and so the park was madly busy and Continue reading “Use Disney Fastpasses To Avoid The Queues” »
Florida has many public holiday days that are a complete mystery to those of us that don’t live there. I remember going to Florida at the beginning of September expecting the queues at Disney to be dramatically less than in the summer (as they usually are in September) but only to discover the Magic Kingdom was
Having done a good number of holidays to Florida we realise that having a rough idea of what you want to do on each day is a good way of making sure you get time to do all the amazing things you want to do. I am not saying it is something that needs to be stuck to regardless but having a rough idea we find makes things easier.
The below is a possible Itinerary for a 14 day holiday:
Day 1: Arrival. Other than arriving, finding your car hire then finding your villa, that will be pretty much it for that day. If you do get the time then take a trip to your local supermarket to get some supplies so that you can start tomorrow feeling fairly organised.
Day 2: Orientation/Recharge. Quite often tour reps organise orientation meetings on your first day in Florida. We haven’t actually attended one of these meetings but I think Continue reading “Suggested Itinerary For a 14 Day Holiday” »
When the excited days start getting nice and close, there is time to start thinking about getting packed and ready for the great trip and there are some tips that can offer some advantages. The “Top Tip” is to think about the trip home. It is sad of course to think about coming home before you even go however Florida is the shoppers paradise and so you need to allow for this in your packing.
Whenever we go over to Florida we take AT LEAST one empty bag with us and wear the trainers on the trip that need to be replaced. When there are places such as Beltz Factory Outlets that need to be visited as part of your trip then there needs to be some space in the bags for the flight home  to avoid charges. The last time that we went there was a couple at the next desk that we being exhorbentent charges for an extra bag to bring home, the problem with this of course is that it is an unexpected Continue reading “Packing For A Florida Holiday” »
Going to Florida in September always raises the issue of ‘Hurricane Season’. It would in no way ever deter me from going to Florida in September but it did hit home a little more closely when I was on holiday there with my boyfriend and two of our friends and Hurricane Floyd decided to make an appearance!
We had seen reports about Hurricane Floyd and that it was heading for Orlando but being on holiday we just sort of passed it by. As the reports increased and the severity of the hurricane seemed to intensify we started to wonder if there really was an issue. I think it was when we looked out of the window of our villa in the morning and saw other residents of the estate boarding up their windows that we realised that this was actually Continue reading “Hurricane Season” »
We know that Florida is the sunshine state but when is the best time to visit there to get the most out of the weather? I have been to Florida at various times of the year and each different time has plus points. The first time I went was in August. The heat is really something in August and the humidity is certainly the most extreme I have ever experienced! Having said that I love the heat and the humidity. Without humidity you don’t get the gorgeous evenings where you never need to even think about jumpers etc. Even at 1am it is balmy and warm. Going to Florida in the summer isn’t for everyone but as long as you pack the suncream and hat, I think Continue reading “Florida Sunshine – When is The Best Time to Visit” »
It’s too hot! It’s too much walking! I can’t go on anything! These maybe some of the thoughts that come to your mind if you thought about the idea of going on holiday to Orlando whilst pregnant. Having ‘Been there done that’ as they say when i was 5 1/2 months pregnant i can say that i enjoyed my trip just as much as the times I have been without the bump.
Being sensible is probably the key to a happy trip whilst pregnant. Firstly, the flight. 8-9 hours is a pretty long time on a plane at the best of time but when accomodating a bump as well it can be a bit daunting. I found that as long as I got up and moved around regularly, drank plenty of water (this actually Continue reading “To Bump or Not To Bump – Florida as a Mum to Be” »
