Travelling with small children can be a bit of a daunting prospect and an 8 hour flight to Florida will certainly be a challange. One way to combat this is to get your kids a Trunki! Our son took one when we went and I have to say it was brilliant!! Firstly he got so excited about having his ‘own’ suitcase. He got very involved in what he wanted to take in his Trunki and loved packing it all in. Obviously, as he was only 2, I had to repack most of it the night before but it really made the build up to the holiday even more special for him.
Once actually on your journey, the Trunki continued to be a huge success. Leo loved being responsible for his own luggage which always helps when you are fighting with a number of bags! The Trunki has a long strap that can be unclipped at one end so it can be pulled along by your kid a bit like a dog on a lead. This has huge appeal for kids and it certainly kept our little boy very occupied at the airport. A main selling point of the Trunki is the fact that they have been made for kids to sit on and be pulled along when they get tired! A simple idea but one that is invaluble when you have a tired child who just wants to sit down at the wrong time. For us it avoided having to carry leo when we already had bags etc to juggle. Just get them to sit on the Trunki and pull them along!! It is a cool ride for the kids and a stress saver for the parents!!
On the plane the Trunki still has it uses. It is the correct size to be taken on as hand luggage so you don’t need to worry about whether it will be too big. All the fun things that they have packed in is great to get out at various stages on the flight. We had put lots of surprises in the Trunki for Leo which was a great way to keep him entertained in the dull moments of the journey. Maybe a Mickey Mouse to maximise the excitment?!!
There are so many designs of Trunki that you can make it a real joy to pick one. From plain ones to ones designed to be a Gruffalo (including teeth and horns!!) there will be one to appeal to all kids. We would hugely recommend getting a Trunki to take on your travels and a trip to Florida would provide the ideal opportunity to get the very most out of it. Fun for the kids and a great solution to a lot of travel headaches for parents.
