Starting to write this piece, the first problem I had was deciding whether I put this under the category of an attraction or a restaurant. I was torn but at the end of the day decided restaurant, you do eat after all.
Arabian Nights is described by themselves as:
At the exciting Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction, guests enter the magical world of Scheherazade, a young girl with a bigger-than-life dream of becoming a beautiful Princess. Two magical Genies take Scheherazade and her guests on a thrilling and romantic adventure filled with music, lights and daring acts where anything can happen, from a square dance on horseback to Gypsies leaping, flipping and dancing on moving horses’ backs!
I remember the first time I went to Arabian Nights, it was during my first trip to Florida with my parents and family of about 9 of us all in. I was told we were going to eat at this restaurant and watch some horses which did not sound especially exciting to be honest and I was in America so I wanted take out!! But we arrived into another enormous car park and lined up to into this rather large building. Once the doors were opened into the main arena you get an idea of the type of experience it is with rows of seats all pointing towards the middle of room where there was the main area where the horses would obviously be performing, facing you on the other side was a mirror image of rows of seats and tables with more customers.
On the food side of things Arabian Nights is as good as so many restaurants, you are not going there expecting spectacular food and you leave happy with quality and of course portions, they offer a great selection of steak, chicken, pork or pot roast at the moment and of course a vegetarian option. If this was in england it would still be burger and chips afterall and the food quality will out do most food establishement in the UK as well in my opinion. On the drink side of things your meal comes with unlimited house beer, wine and pepsi products (yes they have turned their back on coke) although you don’t drink as much as you may think as they are provided by the glass and not always that easy to find someone to refill it.
The show part of the meal is always going on with a story being played out as the evening roles on that offers a number of opportunities for stunts to be completed and great horsemanship shown. The story is a nice love story that moves along well and captures your interest as you sit there in your themed eating experience and the next thing you know it is all finished and 2 hours later.
When booking this experience there are a number of additional options these days which are well worth using if you have some extra pennies. The last time we went we did the VIP experience, it was only an additional $12 and for that you got preferential seating and a quick tour of behind the scenes before the start. This was a nice chance to see the horses and how the back of such an event is set up as well as avoiding the masses when filing in and trying to get a good seat – a Top Tip from us.
The prices for this show has gone up since we first went of course with current prices (September 2011) being $48 for adults (over 12s) and $31 for children between 3 and 11. In english that is about £30 adults and £19 for children. In the UK we all know that you would pay that for the meal without the entertainment and so this we would say is one of our top ten things to do in Florida as it is a gret experience and a great use of an evening!
