Walmart – What a Great Place so USA

Many people out there don’t like America and everyone has a right to their opinion! The fact that it is wrong is beside the point Those who do like America will have heard of Walmart and whenever it is on the news in the UK there is a brief picture of this warehouse looking shop that is clearly the size of a small town (yes we have included one)!!

For me and other people that I know that love America, then going to Walmart in an experience in itself as an example of the differences in the way of life between us and them with the basic principles that if you are going to buy something there should be a large version, but also if you want to go shopping then you should be able to buy everything in one place! Walmart is like 2 or 3 Tescos all in one place. You can see that supermarkets in the UK are starting to go the same way, as in Sainsburies or tesco these days there is a full aisle now of non grocery products like TV’s, printers, dvd’s and more and it is growing slowly.

Imagine this slow growth in 100 years time and then you have Walmart! Shopping there is a great fun and one of the reason that even I, a man, is happy to go grocery shopping. Obviously to start you are on holiday and so you are less concerned with the purse strings and willing to spend a bit more and have fun with the family. The selection of food is great in that there is of course loads of options nearly all of which look foreign as the brand are different and even containers are! milk does not come in a normal shape milk bottle, it comes in a square shaped bottle that makes sure it will not fit in the fridge door! But there is a lot more fresh produce as well as normally a great meat counter and bakery.

Glossing over the grocery shopping there is fun to be had at looking at all the other stuff you can see. There should be an electronics section where you can buy ps3′s, tv’s, dvd players and of course laptops with that feeling of being in the “Buy More” (have you seen Chuck?). Then after building your electronics room you can go onto the clothing section. Of course you know this is not going to be the highest quality products but there is a great selection of stuff and the prices are good and low. The part of the shop that offers all the clothes is probably the same size of the NEXT store in our town!

Other parts of the shop will allow you to see get into the baby equipment, chain saws, gardening equipment, fireworks, baseball  bats and more! As I write this we are getting close to Halloween and so there is costumers galore, again there is slight concern due to the quality as some of the adult costumes make you question their target audience!!

So – Walmart- There is a reason I go into this about the mighty shop and it is this – It is perfect for a Florida holiday & Fun!! In this increasingly disposable society in which we live you often find that there are more and more example of it but with Florida villas it works really well. Whenever we go to a villa we spend a lot of time in the pool for example and so when going shopping we often end up getting a ball, frisby and other similar toys to play with in the pool (you have to buy an America Football after all) and so we tend to leave these in the villa for other people to play with. Walmart is normally in our first few days so that we can stock up the house with food and also get some toys to play with when we are in the villa. For those travelling with infants or small children it is sometimes better to not carry some of the larger and heavier items and buy them in the US.
