Top 10 Disney Parks Florida Attractions

Florida IS Disney in my eyes and so whilst looking at Florida there is so much more to do around the Orlando, Florida area I though it would be good to come up with a Top Ten Disney Parks Florida Attractions. There are so many parts that are Disney and to see everything would pretty much take you the full 2 week holiday on its own and there is so much more to do, in this article I am concentrating only on the 4 main parks (Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Holywood Studios and Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park) and will cover other areas suchas downtown disney etc,… in another post. Here therefore is my Florida Disney Top Ten Attractions and Rides that are a must

  1. Splash Mountain, Disneys Magic Kingdom, Florida – Splash mountain has to be a big one of the Disney Florida Attractions I think. I think it is almost a mandatory part of a florida vacation that you must have a photo of your group going down the water drop on the splash mountain roller coaster. It is not the most scary of rides and so most kids should be fine on it but the photo is a great keep and on a hot day it also works well as a way to cool off. The queue can get quite long but it is a nice family ride and as always the queueing in themed and you are protected from the sun most of the time.
  2. Dumbo The Flying Elephant, Disneys Magic Kingdom, Florida - I think the Dumbo ride at Disney Florida is an iconic ride that I suspect with be in the park as long as there is a park. This is the rotating elephants flying thanks to those enormous ears, it is a great ride for small kids to do with mum, dad, grandparent or guardian and is a real memory keeper. The rider is able to control the up and down of the elephant and so no concerns about the movement making you ill and for the small child to control the elephant is a blast. This should be a must but as this is a popular ride there is a bit of a wait. The queueing is under a style of canopy, the last time we went it was averagely busy and the wait was about an hour. I was almost most proud of my son because he waited so patiently. We went with grandparents as well and when the grandparents agreed to come with us about 12 months before the holiday we it was made very clear that Leo (the grandson) was going on with Nanny and there would be no discussion !! They both loved it and is a memory for them both!
  3. The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror, Disney Holywood Studios, Florida - This is a serious ride I will start with, I will then follow it up with, if you have been on the one in Disneyland Paris then still go on this one as it is better. The only thing people really know about this ride is the drops!! Yes, there are some serious drops at the end of the ride but the first 5 minutes is driving aroung the haunted building andhelping to build up your concern about what you know is next. If you are not sure if you child will like it I would suggest NOT taking them on the ride, the drops are big and really wrench the stomach and once it has happened you are taken higher and it happens again and maybe again so for a small child it would really be a scary one. This must be done as a grown up though as on your return YOU WILL be asked if you went on the Tower Of Terror and it is hard to say no!
  4. Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, Disneys Hollywood Studios, Florida – This is a fast roller coaster with the tag line that it goes from 0-60 with the force of a supersonic F-14 jet fighter. This is a roller coaster in the dark with twists and loops, there is enought light so that it is not pitch black, the story for the fast ride is that you aer late for a gig and this is your limo going through the traffic and so there are numerous road signs and similar. My wife (and her friend) who are not keen on roller coasters went on this twice and loved it because as it is mostly dark they found it was not as scary and so they could just enjoy it. Its a great ride as it is fast and entertaining and makes you want to go back on it again. Must be given a try!!
  5. Studio Backlot Tours, Disneys Hollywood Studios, Florida – This is a great ride for families, couples and all. If going to Florida then a Disney trip is not complete without going on the Backlot Tours. This is a nice 2 part ride. Part one of this Disney  Tour is a drive around parts of the studios section where you can see people making costumes and you get to see a large number of some of the retired vehicles from past movies such as a space ship from ‘Flight of the navigator’ and some vehicles from Indianna Jones movies. The second part of the Studio Blacklot Tours is entering a stunt scene (that we shouldnt have gone into) and then having tones of water aimed at you, flames bursting out and more. Those with kids will find the kids a bit shaken but not really terrified and it is a good way even of testing how much they can take for other rides but as long as they have an arm around them mine loved it afterwards. This is a really good family ride in my opinion and therefore a GOOD Disney ride.
  6. Jim Hensons Muppet Vision 3-D, Disneys Hollywood Studios, Florida – Anyone that has grown up with the muppets knows that this is a MUST DO. Muppet vision ultimately a cinema style experience with classic glasses that make you look like the Blues Brothers but means that some characters and props can come out at you icon smile Top 10 Disney Parks Florida Attractions This is a great one for the kids and even better if they know the muppets of course. But a great chance to meet the muppets and the messes that they can make, they may even need to dodge the occasional cannon ball!!
  7. The Seas With Nemo & Friends, Epcot, Florida – This is a well designed and strucutred rides for all believers and lovers of Nemo and his friends. You start the experience with everyone sitting in a room witha Disney cast member and having a chance to talk with Crush (the dad turtle) who interacts with people talking in the room and really gets the kids into the experience. Then you go through to the main ride which is a bit more typical ride where you go around in a sea shell and follow Nemo through an adventure under the sea. This is a nice calm ride and my son (who was ALL ABOUT NEMO at the time) loved this ride. I would say grown ups not too bothered about the film could well give this a miss but for the Kids its a must.
  8. Soarin’ , Epcot , Florida – Soarin is a relatively new ride and gives you the opportunity to experience what it might feel like to be able to fly threw the air in a place such as the mighty California. Giving you a chance to Soar and swoop as if you were an eagle with your feet off the ground and you head in the clouds.
  9. Exhibition Everest, Disney Animal Kingdom, Florida – This is a fast and fun ride. Being names after the tallest mountian in the World brings the promise of tall climb that starts this ride as you climb into the heights and snow at the top of the mountain and then beware as you barrel back down with sudden twists and turns. This is an excellent roller coaster to help remind you that Disneys Animal Kingdom is not just a zoo. Children will like this ride if they like the fast rides and please note this is one of the faster rides and so only take on the brave and fool hardy.
  10. Kilamanjaro Safaris, Disneys Animal Kingdom, Florida – This is a great way to get to see the majority of animal in the park. This is a chance to drive around teh park through the different areas with a guide (all though sadly a bit at speed) and try and see and take snaps of the great selection of animals that are in the park. There is always a feeling of a ruch on these rides as you go bouncing all over the place trying to take a photo but I guess when thousands of people a day want to see the same things there will always be some ruch and this is why it is not a real safari, for the real thing go to Africa but at least you get to see the different types of animal and that they all seem to have plenty of space and be relatively happy with their day.

There are loads more things about Disney and this is just my top 10, I could easily make a top 20 and maybe one day soon I will. If you agree with any of these or want to suggest your own items then mention them below…..
