The Legends is one of many Clifton, Ezell & Clifton designs in the Orlando area. Located in the northwest section, this 6911 yard par 72 layout features dramatic elevation changes from tee boxes that rise up to 100 feet above the multi-tiered fairways. Panoramic views featuring glimpses of Lake Louisa are often spectacular from the “mountain tops” of this rolling terrain. Slanting fairways provide challenging lies and numerous doglegs and water hazards serve to keep golfers on their toes. The Legends clubhouse includes a pro shop, locker rooms with showers for men and women, plus a beautiful restaurant with full bar and outdoor patio, that also doubles to host outings and special events. Lunch items are served daily, dinner is available every day but Monday, and a wonderful Sunday Brunch is also featured.
The practice facilities include a huge putting/chipping green, plus a targeted grass range that points directly towards the lake. On course markers are provided at 100, 200 and 250 yards (par fives only), and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. A pin placement sheet is standard on all carts, which also feature rain covers on the backs to protect golf clubs from inclement weather. The landscaping near the tee boxes and along the cart paths make this reasonably priced golf experience appear richer, and the conditioning from tee to green during our October visit was very good.

The opening hole is a beautiful par four from an elevated tee, onto a valley fairway then up again to a raised green complex. The most beautiful stretch of holes on the front however consists of the sequence from numbers five through eight. The fifth plays from an elevated tee and doglegs left with a pond along the right that squeezes the fairway just in front of the green. Six begins from a hillside tee area with water short right, and seven doglegs left with water in play on that side from 170 yards in. The par three 8th is a beauty over water to a perched green with a lone bunker deep left.
The back side has water in play on the first two holes, the first greenside and the latter off the tee. Anything left of the green on the tight approach on eleven is in trouble. The 13th is a beautiful par three that features grassy swales and slopes in front – miss short and up and downs can be tricky. Number fourteen presents a wide, sweeping fairway which narrows on the approach with a pond situated just left of the green. This precedes the Legend’s signature hole – a par three over water with the Legends insignia landscaped into the hillside. The 16th through 18th are long four pars (427, 415 and 413 from the tips) that rank as the number 2, 4 and 6 handicaps – creating a formidable challenge to finish.
