A Grandads Experience Part 2

Disney and Other Water Parks

These are always worth a day as an alternative to
Disney. It is very refreshing. On site are various pools slides, for
all tastes and levels of courage, and in Typhoon Lagoon there is
an artificial wave maker _ exciting but perfectly safe. There are all
the usual food outlets so no need to take your own picnics. Every
activity is supervised and controlled by trained lifeguards.

Miami and the Everglades

This is usually offered as an “extra”
day-trip and is an interesting and different experience. We arrived
by coach and went to an alligator show. This was followed by a
trip around Miami harbour where we saw houses belonging to
movie-stars. Lunch in the harbour cafes was good and not too
expensive. The wind propelled boats which they use to show you
the Everglades are exciting and fast. We actually saw a ‘gator
dragging a huge fish lunch to its island lair!

Sea World

go to this show twice! Killer whales controlled by their
trainers to perform all sorts of tricks and to play naughty pranks on
the audience. So, take a tip, if you don’t want to get soaked don’t
sit near the front Just to remind you that these incredible creatures
are not pets and that they can be dangerous to their trainers, one
of our shows was cancelled because one of the orcas had failed to
respond to a command and was, therefore, deemed to be feeling
too frisky and independent to risk getting into the water with it.
But what a show they put on. Don’t miss it. Especially a beast
called Shamu.

Car Parks

You cannot imagine how big these are at the Disney
parks. Acres and acres of them. They even provide you with a
little train to take you from the car-park to the Disney entrance.
To make sure that you do not lose your car at sunset, take some
precautions. Write down the name, row and number either on your
wrist or on paper in your wallet/purse. Additionally, a good trick is
to put a plastic bag (or some such) on your car aerial so it is highly
visible.
Don’t forget that when you want to go home so do 8,000 other
families, it may have gone dark and all the cars around yours may
have changed. Good hunting.
