Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith is the official name of the very cool ride that you can find at Hollywood Studio’s at Disney World. The ride opened in 99 and offers you a high speed ride as you ride in Aerosmiths Limousine to try and get to the gig on time through the rush hour traffic. Fortunately you are in a rather special high speed Limo that starts you off by rushing out of the station by accelerating from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.
The ride is an enclosed roller coaster that is almost in pitch black. As you are queuing up you are introduced to the band whilst walking through a recording studio. For those not familiar with Aerosmith (seriously??) they are the modern day rock band and were most well known at the time for the giving most of the soundtrack to Armageddon!
This ride is a great high speed roller coaster that is full of surprises with the track being almost unable to be seen, then iluminous road signs appearing out of nowhere as you go flying past all with the Aerosmith music being blasted out of your headrest! We first went on this ride with 2 friends with the ladies not especially keen on roller coasters but being told that they had to try at least one. I think what made it work was that as you shot out of the start of the ride (infont of the next car load of people) you are in too much shock to scream, or at least that was my wifes excuse, but being the person sat next to her I was more than happy to have the ear drums be given a break!! At the end of the ride it was the ladies that were shocked to be admitting that they loved it and that were pulling us round to the front of the ride to have another go. As we had gone in our usual slot of September the queues were really low and so on we went again with no more than a 10 minute wait.
This is cemented in my wifes head as a favourite ride and the photo that we have of the front of the ride with the 40ft guitar (this is Disney of course) is one that makes Mel smile. The next time we make it over there she is definately wanting to go on that again, and apparently she will be taking our number 1 son with her hmmmm!
