Florida Sunshine – When is The Best Time to Visit

We know that Florida is the sunshine state but when is the best time to visit there to get the most out of the weather? I have been to Florida at various times of the year and each different time has plus points. The first time I went was in August. The heat is really something in August and the humidity is certainly the most extreme I have ever experienced! Having said that I love the heat and the humidity. Without humidity you don’t get the gorgeous evenings where you never need to even think about jumpers etc. Even at 1am it is balmy and warm.  Going to Florida in the summer isn’t for everyone but as long as you pack the suncream and hat, I think it is a wonderful time to go. Also you must be prepared for the afternoon thunderstorms! Personally I love them. It gets to the point where you feel as hot as you think you can get then the skies open and down comes the rain which feels amazing. Lightning lovers will also get a kick out of the amazing light shows!!

I have also been in early March which is very different weather wise. It was generally still warm/hot but one day was a little chilly with the wind. Being five months pregnant at the time it was nice not to have the extreme humidity or heat but yet it was still warm enough to enjoy the water parks (although the water felt a little cool). If your not a fan of hot weather this would be a perfect time to go!

I have been to Florida in October which was is very similar weather to March but maybe slightly warmer when we were there. Although I do remember having to buy a Disney jumper when I got cold one day!!

The time of year I have been most often is September. This is the aultimate time to enjoy Florida in my opinion. It is still hot and humid (true Florida weather) but it isn’t quite the extreme heat of July/August. The crowds of the summer holidays have gone so the ques, like the prices, have at least halved. There is still the gorgeously warm evenings to enjoy and the afternoon thunderstorms but added to the mix is the fact that September is hurricane season!! Florida experiences it’s fair share of hurricanes but you would be fairly unlikely to be there when one  hits. Having said that, my husband and I were in Florida when Hurricane Floyd hit!!! It was not as bad as it was predicted to be so we were lucky. I would never let this put me off going to Florida in September. The chances of experiencing a hurricane are slim but the benifits of September in Florida are massive.
