Summit Plummet is something else when it comes to swimming time or at least the opportunity to have a thrill ride in the water. For those that have been on a slide at their local swimming pool it is nothing like that!! This is a 12 storey drop where it is predicted that you make it up to 60mph!! This is so much the case that they have actually installed a speed trap on it so that when you get to the bottom you are able to see the speed that you achieved during your descent!!
This is an awesome ride and one that MUST be included in your day if you are willing to take on the challenge of the day AS THIS IS the challenge. As the photo shows this is quite a drop!! You stand at the top of the ski jump in Blizzard beach and look down and what is clearly a drop that you do not want to be part of!! As you can see this is a drop where the challenge for the designers was how steep can we make this without people falling off!!
The bottom of this slide is surrounded by people coming out of the slow down section of the slide and try to rediscover their swim suit!! (Yes, you know what I mean!!)
I am a very confident guy in the water (I worked as a lifeguard for 10 years) and I thought twice about this one. My concern with this type of ride is actually the pain of the points of contact with you and the slide. When I came to bottom of the ride I was aware of the friction that had happened between by shoulder blades and the slide and so as you start charging down this slide try and keep your shoulder blades in to avoid this!! Another good idea is to go down with a tee shirt on as this will help protect your skin from getting damaged and you go SPEEDING along the slide!! When you go down this ride there is only one position you are allowed to be in which is on your back with feet crossed, I suspect this may be to protect vital organs from getting damaged!!
