A Perfect Christmas – Do It In Florida

disney street christmas lights A Perfect Christmas Do It In FloridaWith Christmas fast approaching and the typical English weather now starting to kick in it makes you think does Christmas have to be like this or is there a better options? Here I sit listening to what sounds like a force 9 gale outside with the rain lashing against the windows knowing that when you have to go out it will also be lovely and cold and all of this makes you wish you had loads of money and just escape it all!!

My thoughts were though if I was in that position then where would I go? The answer for me would have to be that we would load up our family of 4 and hear on off to Florida. We have yet to experience Florida at Christmas but can only imagine how great it would be to have the children all together at the drop of a hat, not tell them where we were going other than to the airport. On arrival in Florida I suspect it would be a nice start to walk out into the Florida weather and whilst it is not summer time there is typically still lots of sunshine and with the next day seeing temperatures reaching up to 25c that would be great. The only real difference with the weather is that although the day times can be sunny there can be a cool breeze and when the sun goes down it is colder to the point to need add a layer or 2 but this could make sitting in your hot tub more fun!

Using current weather as an example the next few days in Florida will see partly cloudy days but quite warm and so we could load up the boys each morning and head off the Magic kingdom where we could try to find the characters who would be dressed up in their best Christmas outfits and when the darkness comes then the lights come on and the experience is amazing, I have also been told that the heat that is generated from the lights even keeps people warmer!

I am not sure if it would actually be weird to not be at home in reality from Christmas and I don’t think that I would be able to spend Christmas day in Disney but I am sure it would be a great experience to be able to go outside in the warm rather than the more typical Christmas days that I am sure we all know and have come to love secretly where we get to wherever we are going (typically in the rain)  and are then trapped in the house with many relatives, too much food and the rain trapping us in. As it is one of the few days that everything (well nearly everything) is closed it means there is no escape. A popular option in our house as long as we are organised enough is that on Christmas Eve we have a quite calm day and just enjoy being together calm, including heading off for a swim in what is normally a completely empty swimming pool as everyone else is running around like made things.

This then offer us the chance to have a peaceful evening, kids in bed early, only after they have left the mince-pie, carrot and drink for Father Christmas and his reindeer allowing children to be charged and ready for the following day. If in Florida we would have to do the same thing but wouldn’t it be awesome, instead of a swim in the local swimming pool, to be in Discovery Cove!! Now that would be a Christmas to remember!
